Gold Seal Deadlines (Oct 20) - From Judy Nunes

|

Hello Advisers:

Remember, two Gold Seal Chapter Award of Merit requirements are:

    1) paid state and national dues for a minimum of five members by October 20, and

    2) paid section dues by October 20.

To register your members, log on to the FBLA-PBL home page at www.fbla-pbl.org.  Look at the links on the left-hand side of the page and click on Membership.  Then click on Register Now.  You will need to know your chapter number and the password which is "service."  Just read and follow the directions.

An invoice needs to be printed at the conclusion of your registration session.  Mail the invoice with a check or money order payable to FBLA-PBL.  Section dues are $25 and are added on the first printed invoice.  California members pay $11 ($6 National and $5 State).

Let's see if we can't all register at least five members and pay their dues and the section dues by October 20!!

P.S.  If you need further help, e-mail or telephone me at (949) 551-FBLA or (530) 347-1728.

LDI Deadlines - Room Reservations

|
Today is the deadline for the Leadership Development Institute (LDI) room reservations and for general (on-time) conference registration.   All room reservations, including for those chapters registering late, must be made, by phone, by 5PM with no exceptions.  Check the LDI-South registration packet for more  information.

The packet is available on the front page of the California FBLA website: www.cafbla.org under "LDI South -- Registration Packet."

Member of the Month Update

|

Member of the Month is a California FBLA awards program that recognizes each chapter's most active member for a particular month.  Each chapter can create their own criteria for choosing the most active member.

For those chapters that are sending in Members of the Month to State President Amanda Nguyen on the tenth of each month, please send the member's name, the adviser's name, and school address to mom@cafbla.org, NOT president@cafbla.org.  This is a new change on cafbla.org.

If a chapter participates in the Member of the Month program at least one month, the chapter has completed one of the tasks on the Progress of Work (POW) Form, helping them achieve a Chapter Achievement Award.

OAT Day Success!

|
Thanks to all the chapters who attended our 2008 Officers' and Advisers' Training Day!  It was a great morning at Exposition Park and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as the Gold Coast Section Team.

If you have any awesome photos of today's event, forward them to me at goldcoastdirector@cafbla.org.  We'd like to use them here on the blog and maybe even feature them in "The Gold Post" newsletter in The Californian.

Special thanks goes out to Mrs. Wong who lead our Adviser training session, Mrs. La Croix for helping make all those copies, Eric To (fmr. Gold Coast President) for coming out to visit and help out, all the advisers who helped hand out lunches, and to the many other people who made today's event a success.   I can't wait until we all meet up again at the Leadership Development Institute (LDI).   Until then, keep checking the blog for more updates!  -Matt Gray

Newly Formed Chapters / "Adopt-a-Chapter" Project

|
*updated* Hey Gold Coast-- It's my fourth year as Section Director and I've never seen so many emails from local high schools about starting FBLA chapters.  This is awesome! We have at least 10 schools that are in the final stages of becoming fully activated and many, many more teachers and students that are bringing together their resources to start chapters.

To all these new chapters, congratulations and welcome to Gold Coast!

For all those established chapters out there, we need "Chapter Siblings" for these new groups.  Adopt-a-Chapter is an official California FBLA State Project.   This is an easy way to get honored at the State Conference (ribbons/certificates), earn points toward the elite "Gold Seal" status for your chapter, and most importantly make a huge impact in FBLA.

Chapters throughout Gold Coast are eligible to participate in the Adopt-a-Chapter program.  We have a special need for help in the South Bay (Torrance) and the west San Fernando Valley / Conejo Valley areas.

Follow this link (updated) for more information about adopting a chapter.  Email me (goldcoastdirector@cafbla.org) to volunteer today!   -Matt Gray
